I’ve been reading a magazine called Departures and have found some really great articles on luxury textiles. Brooks Brothers has a new line of Supima cotton clothing. Supima is an American grown luxury cotton. It’s very durable and comfortable. It’s name “Supima” comes from a combination of “Superior” and “Pima” and makes up less than 1% of American Pima crops. According to the Supima website “an annual cotton crop has the same beneficial impact as removing 7.25 million passenger vehicles from the roads,” and is “a natural, renewable and biodegradable fiber.”
Among other things I’ve found in this magazine are blueberry-dyed jackets by Isaia and lotus-fiber clothing from Myanmar. My interest has really been peaked by all of these sustainable and organic textile ideas. Expect more related posts.
